Cannes, France - We're thrilled to be here on the Côte d'Azur at the renowned Cannes Film Festival to talk with, learn from, and partner with film industry producers, directors, judges, and commissions who also want to green their industry.
<p>The panelists included: singer/songwriter and Cannes jury member Rokia Traore; Director, Guadalajara International Film Festival Ivan Trujillo; CEO, Ile-de-France Film Commission Olivier-René Veillon; Publisher & Chief Editor, Green Film Shooting Brigit Heidsiek; Head of Training and Film Education Flanders Audiovisual Fund Siebe Dumon; Chief Executive Officer, Sardegna Film Commission/Foundation &Vice President, Italian Commission Association (IFC) Nevina Satta; and Michael Geidel of Climate Media Factory, Green Film Initiative.</p>
<p>Rokia Traore (who traveled to Cannes with her two month old daughter!) opened the panel with some heartfelt words about her home country of Mali, and the plight of the African continent in general.</p>
<p><strong>“Every day in Africa, we are facing climate change consequences,”</strong> Rokia Traoré told Connect4Climate. <strong>“We have to make people aware that humans are simply one of the elements of nature. We have to be able to think not just about now, but tomorrow. What are our responsibilities concerning our children and their world? We are the ones responsible for that.”</strong></p>
<p>Veillon added: <strong>“To have a sustainable approach in production is also the right economic approach”.</strong></p>
Youth in 70 countries are calling for climate action with more than 230 documentaries. The response to the Action4Climate competition has been overwhelming.
