Description
A decade after “An Inconvenient Truth”, winner of two Oscars at the Academy Awards for best documentary and best song, “An inconvenient sequel: Truth to power” arrives at the French Riviera.
Directed by Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk, the sequel is a follow-up to the acclaimed 2006 documentary that brought Al Gore´s tireless fight to raise awareness about climate change, its dangers, and threats, into the heart of popular culture.
“An inconvenient sequel: Truth to power” shows Al Gore behind the scenes in private and public, funny and poignant moments, through Greenland, India, Europe, Asia and across the U.S.A.
Speaking to the press at the Cannes Film Festival, the environmental activist said: “The dangers we face from the climate crisis are now more severe than what the scientists predicted. It has gotten worse. But the primary message of the movie is that we now have the solutions available and we can solve this. We are beginning to implement these solutions. But the main challenge is to summon sufficient political will to implement these solutions and that’s why this movie has the message: it´s time for action”.

The Cannes Festival is one of the most prestigious events in the film world. The invitation-only festival is held every year in Cannes, Frances, at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrés and presents films of all genres from all around the world, including documentaries. The Cannes Festival was founded in 1946. 2017 was its 70th edition.
Pedro Almodóvar, the Spanish film director, and screenwriter was selected as the President of the Jury for the Festival this year and the highest prize, the Palm d’Or, this year was awarded to “The Square”, by the Swedish Ruben Östlund.

#All4TheGreen: A new alliance among institutions, NGOs, and the private sector
A new alliance among institutions, associations, NGOs, private sector firms and corporations has been officially announced this Monday, 29th, 2017, to foster the sustainable development of a circular economy in total respect of the environment. Through the #All4TheGreen initiative, spearheaded by the World Bank Group's Connect4Climate and the Italian Ministry of Environment, over 70 events will take place in Bologna from June 5-12th on the lead up to the G7 Environment.

This Monday's launch in Rome was a very high profile conference chaired by the Italian Ministry of the Environment Gian Luca Galletti and the President of the Environmental Commission of the House of Representatives, Ermete Realacci. Among the panelists and speakers were Rossella Muroni, President Legambiente; Donatella Bianchi, President WWF Italy; Fabrizio Zago, CEO of Building Energy; Angelo Trocchia, President and CEO of Unilever Italy; Paolo Quaini, Director of the EDISON's Energetic Services Division; Giovanni Milani, Director of ENI's Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Division.
Over 90 journalists were in attendance and covered the event.
With #All4TheGreen Bologna will become per one week the world capital of the environment. Italy is a superpower of biodiversity and it is our key interest to foster a reconversion of the productive process in a sustainable way to protect the Earth's resources.

Una grande manifestazione su ambiente e sviluppo sostenibile diffusa su tutto il territorio della città. Bologna dal 5 al 12 giugno diventa capitale mondiale dell’Ambiente con #All4TheGreen, un “contenitore” di 70 eventi aperti alla massima partecipazione del pubblico per preparare, introdurre e “sensibilizzare” il G7 Ambiente 2017, la riunione intergovernativa tra i paesi più industrializzati della Terra che si terrà nella città emiliana il 11 e 12 giugno. Istituzioni nazionali ed enti locali, università, associazioni e imprese partecipano all’organizzazione di questo fitto programma di iniziative incentrate sulla tutela ambientale e sull’economia circolare.

"Abbiamo immaginato questa settimana di grande mobilitazione in città - spiega il Ministro Galletti – come un’occasione unica di conoscenza e consapevolezza comune. Ci attende un G7 Ambiente con molte importanti questioni aperte e passi in avanti da compiere: ciò che deve essere chiaro è questo processo decisionale non è estraneo alla società, ma tutti ne siamo protagonisti a pari livello. Istituzioni e grandi aziende, associazioni ambientaliste, operatori e mondo dell’università, hanno scelto di unirsi in #All4TheGreen per un obiettivo che è necessariamente comune: la cura dell’Ambiente, non solo come luogo della conservazione, ma come leva di una nuova crescita economica. Da bolognese – conclude Galletti - credo che questo sia anche un passaggio fondamentale per la mia città: perché oggi ha davvero le basi per caratterizzarsi come il luogo dell’innovazione ambientale”.

"Ospitare il G7 Ambiente – dichiara il Sindaco Merola - consentirà a Bologna di spiegare al mondo quello che sta facendo in tema ambientale, a partire dal fatto che la nostra città è stata scelta recentemente per ospitare il Data Center del Centro europeo per le previsioni meteorologiche a medio termine. Con l'obiettivo di rilanciare l'impegno collettivo sul fronte della mitigazione e dell'adattamento, nello scorso mese di marzo abbiamo lanciato una Call to Action dal titolo 'Collabora a Bologna Città Resiliente', i risultati saranno esposti in una mostra che accompagnerà gli eventi del G7 e resterà aperta tutta l'estate presso Urban Center. Tra gli appuntamenti segnalo la giornata di discussione che abbiamo organizzato assieme ad ANCI per arrivare alla firma della 'Carta di Bologna per l'Ambiente. Le Città metropolitane per lo sviluppo sostenibile', un documento che impegna le maggiori città del nostro paese nel raggiungimento di importanti obiettivi di qualità ambientale".

“In Emilia-Romagna – spiega il Presidente Bonaccini - abbiamo messo il rispetto dell’ambiente e un modello di crescita sostenibile al centro della nostra azione politica. Abbiamo aperto la legislatura approvando la legge sull’economia circolare, varando poi quattro atti di programmazione – il Piano regionale rifiuti, quello energetico, quello sulla qualità dell’aria e quello sulla forestazione – che fissano obiettivi che vanno oltre quelli stabiliti dalla Ue e che porteranno al progressivo azzeramento delle discariche e alla riduzione degli inceneritori, a investire 250 milioni di euro nella green economy, nel risparmio energetico e nelle fonti rinnovabili, ad avere meno traffico nelle città, rinnovando i mezzi del trasporto pubblico locale e promuovendo la mobilità elettrica, ad avere sistemi di produzione innovativi in agricoltura e a valorizzare il patrimonio boschivo. Aggiungo la scelta del consumo di suolo a saldo zero fissato nella legge regionale sull’urbanistica che approveremo entro l’autunno. Ospitare il G7 Ambiente nella nostra regione, a Bologna, conferma a maggior ragione il ruolo centrale dell’Emilia-Romagna su questi temi, sancito anche dalla recente scelta di Bologna quale sede del Data center del Centro europeo per le previsioni meteorologiche a medio termine (ECMWF). Risultati possibili attraverso il lavoro comune fra istituzioni, la stessa sinergia che ci porterà a firmare proprio in occasione del G7 Ambiente un importantissimo accordo con il Governo e le altre tre Regioni del bacino padano – Piemonte, Lombardia e Veneto - per il contrasto all’inquinamento”.

This series of activities will pave the way to the Environment Ministerial Meeting, scheduled for June 11-12. The entire city - institutions, universities, and businesses - will be involved over the week, in events dedicated to the protection of the environment, to sustainable development and to the circular economy.

"We have imagined this week of great mobilization in the city as a unique opportunity for common knowledge and awareness," said Minister Galletti. "There is a G7 Environment with many important issues open and moving forward: what needs to be clear is that this decision-making process is not alien to the society, but all of us are at the same level. Institutions and large companies, environmental associations, operators and the university world have chosen to join #All4TheGreen for a goal that is necessarily common: care of the environment, not only as a place of conservation but as a lever of new economic growth. From Bologne - Galletti concludes - I believe this is also a fundamental step for my city: because today it really has the basis for characterizing itself as the place of environmental innovation."

Mayor Merola announced: "Hosting the G7 Environment will allow Bologna to explain to the world what it is doing in the environmental sphere, starting from the fact that our city was recently chosen to host the Data Center of the European Center for Weather Forecasts In the medium term, with the aim of relaunching collective commitment on the mitigation and adaptation front. In March we launched a Call to Action entitled 'Collaborate in Bologna Resilient City', the results will be displayed in an exhibition that will accompany the events of the G7 and will remain open all summer at Urban Center. Among the appointments, I highlight the day of discussion we organized together with ANCI to arrive at the signing of the 'Bologna Charter for the Environment. Sustainable Development,' a document that engages major cities in our country in achieving important environmental quality objectives."

President Bonaccini explained: "In Emilia-Romagna, we have put the respect for the environment and a model of sustainable growth at the center of our political action. We have opened the legislature by approving the Circular Economy Act, launching four programming acts - the Regional Waste Plan, the Energy Framework, the one on Air Quality and the Forestry Plan - setting targets that go beyond those set by the EU and will lead to the progressive landing of landfills and the reduction of incinerators; to invest 250 million euros in green economy; energy saving and renewable sources; less traffic in cities; renewing the means of local public transport and promoting electric mobility to have innovative production systems in agriculture; and to enhance the forestry heritage. I add the choice of the zero-zero soil consumption set in the regional law on urban planning we approve by the fall. Hosting the G7 Ambiente in our region, Bologna, confirms the central role of Emilia-Romagna on these issues, as well as the recent choice of Bologna as the center of the European Center for Middle-Sea Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). Possible results through joint work between the institutions, the same synergy that will lead us to sign on the occasion of the G7 Ambiente a very important agreement with the Government and the other three Regions of the Padano Basin - Piedmont, Lombardy and Veneto - for the fight against pollution."

Max Edkins, Climate Change Expert, Connect4Climate, World Bank Group, launched the Digital Media Zone during a reception with a screening of Film4Climate Videos to celebrate climate action from every corner of the world. Then Inka Vogt & Fabian Beveridge, Climate Ambassadors Momentum for Change & Climate Neutral Now, UNFCCC, shared more about their two-wheels adventure. Inka and Fabian have been cycling across Europe and have interviewed various projects involved in making a difference in our climate. You can follow their challenge on their Facebook page Europe on Four Wheels. Later, Dani Tinez, Graphic Designer, Animator, Filmmaker & Video Editor, talked more about why he decided to participate in the Film4Climate Global Video Competition. Dani and his partner Jay-Carter Cole ended up winning the Film4Climate Put a Price on Carbon Pollution Award (PSA).
After watching "Your Choice," James Close, Director, Climate Change, World Bank Group, took over the Digital Media Zone stage to give an inspirational keynote followed by an engaging introduction of Mootral and Zaluvida by its President Michael Mathres.
