Connect4Climate and Vimeo call for action: Film a #Day4Climate action on November 29
Connect4Climate, the online platform Vimeo, and partners have joined forces to challenge citizens around the world to film Climate Action on one day, November 29.

<p>Just one day before the crucial climate negotiations in Paris (COP21) begin, coinciding with the Global Climate March - a decisive call for bold actions on climate change, this challenge represents an opportunity for people to come together through the power of video and share their messages, pledges and solutions for climate change. Everyone, everywhere, united to to build a resilient clean future!</p>
<p>Connect4Climate aims to raise global awareness about climate change in line with the World Bank’s mission to end extreme poverty within a generation and boost shared prosperity. As World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim said, “We will never end poverty if we don’t tackle climate change.”</p>

<p><a href="http://connect4climate.org/event/green-day-venice-how-film-industry-tak…; target="_blank">Green Day Venice</a>, which featured the <a href="connect4climate.org/initiatives/film4climate" target="_blank">Film4Climate</a> One-on-One discussion, a roundtable discussion, and a presentation on the Green Drop Award, was organized by Connect4Climate and <a href="http://www.greencrossitalia.org/" target="_blank">Green Cross Italy</a>, with the <a href="connect4climate.org/sites/default/files/upload/GreenDayVenice-v6-small.pdf" target="_blank">support of many partners</a>.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Introducing the day World Bank Group Progam Manager Lucia Grenna emphasized the role of building a network to take on climate change - the ambition of the Connect4Climate program. UNEP's Laura Fuller highlighted the importance of 2015 as a defining year for sustainable development and the importance of the UNFCCC COP21 meeting in December.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Fuller also highlighted the importance of the film industry as a leading example for climate action:</p>

<p>"There is no better time or place in the world than right here to have this conversation about the role of film in addressing climate change. Cooperation, innovation and creativity will all play a huge part in helping to achieve a carbon neutral planet. Let’s seize this opportunity together."</p>

<p>El reconocimiento vino por parte de un jurado liderado por Bernardo Bertolucci, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gV1MY5lid8A&feature=share&list=P…; target="_blank">Fernando Meirelles</a>, Walter Salles y otros grandes nombres de la industria cinematográfica además de expertos en cambio climático como Rachel Kyte, vicepresidenta del Banco Mundial.</p>
<p>El corto además fue proyectado en una de las conocidas pantallas en Times Square en Nueva York, por donde pasan unas 300.000 personas a diario.</p>
<p>Recientemente Francina y Benjamín viajaron a Buenos Aires para asistir al festival Ventana Sur (uno de los mercados de cine latinoamericano más importantes de la región) donde el director argentino Pablo Trapero -también miembro del jurado del concurso- elogió el corto que fue proyectado ante cientos de profesionales de la industria. “Trapero nos dijo que le gustó mucho la animación, que la vio con su hijo de 12 años”, cuenta Francina con orgullo.</p>
