The award ceremony highlighted the winners of <a href="http://newsroom.unfccc.int/unfccc-newsroom/winners-of-cop22-youth-clima…; target="_blank">Global Youth Video Competition</a> and the <a href="http://connect4climate.org/article/film4climate-competition-winners-ann…; target="_blank">Film4Climate Competition</a>, as well as the finalists of the Connect4Climate Sustainable Worlds on Minecraft contest. The winning films were showcased, demonstrating the power of young people to act as key players in reaching innovative and ambitious solutions on climate change all over the world.

The day-long event was dedicated to celebrate the power of cinema and global youth’s creativity in encouraging positive climate action.

<a href="http://connect4climate.org/article/film4climate-competition-winners-ann…; target="_blank">The winners of the Film4Climate Global Video competition</a> were celebrated. The event featured special screenings of Leonardo DiCaprio’s newly released climate change documentary “Before the Flood”, as well as a special preview of National Geographic’s “Years of Living Dangerously – Season 2” and energy documentary “Power.”

The event also included high-profile panel discussions, <a href="http://earthtomarrakech.org/">Earth to Marrakech</a> announcement by UN Foundation, and the <a href="http://www.earthday.org/earth-day-network-cop22-marrakech/" target="_blank">Global Climate Literacy Partnership</a> announcement by Earth Day Network and Connect4Climate.

In the context of highlighting the implementation of transformative climate actions through the <a href="http://unfccc.int/secretariat/momentum_for_change/items/6214.php" target="_blank">Momentum for Change initiative,</a> Connect4Climate presented as a partner at the awards ceremony, showcased Film4Climate videos on climate action and solutions and highlighted innovation in the Private Sector as a key solutions driver. High School Game e Connect4Climate: Una t-shirt per il Papa

Storico evento per Planet Multimedia e HighSchoolGame. Nell'ultima udienza pubblica del sabato del Giubileo della Misericordia (12 novembre 2016), 4 studenti, in rappresentanza della classe vincitrice del Concorso tematico sull'educazione ambientale organizzato da Planet Multimedia in collaborazione con Connect4Climate di Banca Mondiale, hanno avuto il prilegio di essere in prima fila per il baciamano col Pontefice a cui hanno consegnato una t-shirt con i loghi di HighSchoolGame e Connect4Climate.

Sul sagrato davanti alla Basilica di San Pietro, la professoressa Agata Cannata ha accompagnato: Carolina Pirrò, Carmela Curcio, Francesca Nicosia e Stefano Pesce, studenti del quinto anno, coordinati dalla professoressa Luigia Maria Cimino dell'IIS M.Ciliberto-A.Lucifero di Crotone diretto dal preside prof. Girolamo Arcuri. Presenti anche il prof. Giuseppe Mazzei, della direzione generale di Planet Multimedia e il prof. Massimiliano Falcone di Connect4Climate.

Gli studenti indossavano una t-shirt con i loghi di HighSchoolGame e di Connect4Climate e sulla t-shirt che hanno consegnato al Papa hanno scritto questa dedica Laudato Si con le loro firme.

Papa Francesco ha accettato questo dono simbolico con grande gioia, ha ringraziato gli studenti che gli hanno brevemente parlato del Concorso sull'educazione ambientale. Il Pontefice si è congratulato e ha detto loro:"Bravi ragazzi, continuate così, voi siete il futuro".

"E' stata un'esperienza unica, entusiasmante e commovente-hanno commentato gli studenti-Il Papa ci ha riempito il cuore con il suo sorriso, il suo sguardo dolce, le sue parole stimolanti".

Molto emozionata anche la professoressa Cannata:" E' stata un'esperienza molto intensa e profonda. Papa Francesco trasmette il senso della sua umiltà, serenità e dolcezza. Gli occhi dei ragazzi brillavano per la felicità".

A T-shirt for the Pope, from the High School Game and Connect4Climate

It was a day to remember, a historic event for Planet Multimedia and for the High School Game. Representing the winning class of Environmental Education Competition, organized by Planet Multimedia in collaboration with the Connect4Climate program of the World Bank, four students had the privilege of being on the front row to meet the Pope on the last public hearing of the Saturday of the Jubilee of Mercy (12 November 2016). To Pope Francis the students delivered a T-shirt with the logos of High School Game and Connect4Climate.

Professor Agata Cannata accompanied the students Carolina Pirrò, Carmela Curcio, Nicosia Francesca and Stefano Pesce, coordinated by Professor Maria Luigia Cimino of IIS M.Ciliberto-A.Lucifero (Crotone) directed by Dean Girolamo Arcuri. Also in attendance were Giuseppe Mazzei, Planet Multimedia, and Massimiliano Falcone, representing Connect4Climate.

The students proudly wore their T-shirts celebrating the High School Game and Connect4Climate, and the T-shirts handed to Pope France were decorated with the students signatures in dedication: "Praise You W Francis!"

Pope Francis accepted this symbolic gift with great joy, thanked the students who briefly talked about the environmental education competition and their dedication to climate action. In response Pope Francis congratulated them and said: "Well done guys, keep it up, you are the future."

"It was a unique experience, exciting and moving," commented the students, "The Pope has filled our hearts with his smile, his gentle eyes, his stimulating words."

Professor Cannata Agata also excitedly exclaimed: "It was a very intense and profound experience. Papa Francis conveyed his sense of humility, serenity and sweetness. The eyes of the children shone with happiness."

Film4Climate Competition Winners Announced

860 videos from 155 countries. Connect4Climate has received inspiring climate change solutions stories from young people around the world that raised their voices through the Film4Climate Global Video Competition showing that it is possible to take on climate change. We truly believe that young people can alter the course of history and Connect4Climate is extremely proud to be their platform, by helping them transform the planet. As so we are truthfully pleased to award them for their incredible work, creativity, and time invested solving climate change.

Connect4Climate presents you the Film4Climate Global Video Competition winners, selected by renowned filmmakers, climate influencers, world leaders, and communication professionals, headed by the Italian film director Bernardo Bertolluci (The Conformist, Last Tango in Paris). The winners were announced at the United Nations Climate Conference (COP22) at a day celebrating the power of youth, cinema and the creative industries to generate climate action and tackle climate change.

"Movies have the power to change minds and hearts", H.E. Hakima El Haite, Delegate Minister in Charge of Environment, Morocco, Special Envoy for Mobilization of COP22, and High-Level Champion of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
