The event is hosted by Connect4Climate, World Bank Group, and the Center for Research on Environmental Decisions (CRED) at World Bank headquarters. We are bringing together a unique, multidisciplinary group of scholars and multi-sector leaders who are experts in communicating climate change to a broad audience.
Connect4Climate is joining 35 high-level business leaders and thoughtleaders on October 29 to discuss concrete ideas and actions to ensure that the business case for sustainability is on the agenda in the lead up to COP21 in Paris 2015 at the Sustainia Workshop "The Business Case for Saving the Planet."
Connect4Climate partnered with AfriDocs to present a week of climate change films to coincide with the United Nations Framework on Climate Change COP meeting in Lima, Peru. During this week some of the worlds best climate films will be screened across sub-Saharan Africa on DStv channel ED (channel 190) and GOtv (channel 65).
At this time last year, the C4C team was busily preparing to launch our first Connect4Climate competition aimed at engaging African youth on climate issues and challenging them to tell their personal climate stories through photos and videos. After receiving more than 700 submissions from every African country on the continent, we landed in Durban, South Africa to showcase and celebrate the winners at the UN Climate Change Conference/COP17 last November.
The Action4Climate competition received more than 230 films from youth representing 70 countries around the world. Their stories show a new world of climate impacts, solutions and actions to address one of our generation’s greatest challenges.
The deadline for the Voices4Climate TerrAfrica podcast category has passed, with a total of 33 podcasts submitted from 11 African countries! A heartfelt thank you to all the participants who worked so hard to submit their radio stories on time. With so many great submissions in this category, it is going to be quite a challenge to select the winners. Fortunately, our roster of superstar judges are more than up to the task.
What is AVCC?
African Voices on Climate Change (AVCC) is a blog-a-thon organized by the Connect4Climate team to bring particular focus to African bloggers writing about climate change in their community. This will be a listening activity for C4C where we turn over the “microphone” to hear what the continent has to say on this complex issue. This "climate change blog-a-thon" will coincide with the on-going efforts to mobilize Africa's youth to participate in the Connect4Climate campaign.
Of the 230 films submitted to the Action4Climate documentary competition, six have been selected to be shown at the 50th Anniversary of the Chicago International Film Festival on October 15th. Producer Donald Ranvaud will deliver opening remarks, and Action4Climate filmmakers Nathan Dappen and Patrick Riggs will talk about their documentaries after the screening.

Connect4Climate was proud to support the Sprek.O. – Cittadinanza, the Spoleto Festival in Spoleto, Italy, on June 5 – 7, organized by our partner Cittadinanzattiva (Active Citizenship). The three-day event focused on waste and sustainable development in three areas: food, environment, and health.
