The Climate Reality Project knows that the forces of change at work today are more powerful than any president or administration. Stronger than any Congressional action. Bigger than all the climate deniers in the world put together. And with millions of people standing up together, we’re about to transform the world.
Now it’s time to seize the moment. And on June 27-29, Climate Reality and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore will hold the 35th Climate Reality Leadership Corps activist training right outside of Seattle in Bellevue, Washington. The intensive three-day event is designed to give concerned citizens from across the US and around the globe a keen understanding of the latest developments in the climate crisis and the tools and skills to lead their communities in working to solve it.
Combining in-depth, theme-based sessions with practical skill-building workshops, the training will explore several of the key climate challenges ahead in Washington and across the Pacific Northwest, and draw on the experience of local leaders to offer key insights that activists everywhere can apply in their work. Focus sessions will highlight how the crisis is transforming the Northwest, ways to accelerate the clean energy transition, and how cities and states can effectively resist the powerful fossil fuel industry and its allies in DC.
In tandem with these sessions, field leaders in strategic communications, public speaking, digital media, and grassroots organizing will lead workshops providing attendees with the know-how to persuasively and effectively shape public opinion and mobilize communities for action in the twenty-first century. The result: a new generation of powerful citizen activists ready, willing, and able to build a climate movement to win.
AT THE SEATTLE TRAINING, PARTICIPANTS WILL:
• Gain an understanding of the road ahead and what to expect for the climate movement.
• Learn skills and strategies for communicating climate science, public speaking, organizing, and media engagement in the twenty-first century.
• Hear from local and regional experts on strategies for implementing solutions.
• Meet in facilitated small-group sessions to connect with Climate Reality and our global network of activists, subject experts, and each other.
Application deadline is May 23rd.
