Happy New Year from all of us on the Connect4Climate team. As we approach the end of #Youth4ClimateLive and look ahead to the Pre-COP26 activities in Milan this fall, let’s make the last couple episodes of the Series ones to remember!
Fast approaching on January 22 at 10:30 AM EST/4:30 PM CET is Episode 8: Driving Adaptation and Resilience. It is essential that as we continue to step up our ambition on mitigation efforts, we also adapt to the climate impacts already affecting regions around the world and invest in our future resiliency to changing weather patterns, increasingly frequent natural disasters, rising sea levels, and other challenges that we will face in the years to come. (Learn more about adaptation and resilience in our #Youth4ClimateLive Educational Toolkit.)

Young leaders are already driving climate adaptation solutions, and their help is all the more necessary to help rethink current systems in light of climate challenges, as they bring to the table fresh perspectives and are open to radical innovation. As we learned in the last episode of #Youth4ClimateLive, “Driving Innovation and Entrepreneurship,” youth all over the world excel at coming up with bold new ways to promote sustainability in their home countries and beyond. In Episode 8: Driving Adaptation and Resilience, we’ll look at how young perspectives can mesh with those of traditional leadership to yield creative but practical solutions to the day-to-day challenges posed by rising sea levels and a volatile global climate.
Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme Inger Andersen as well as Astronaut and AirZeroG Founder Jean-François Clervoy will be joining us for this episode, laying out the ways in which our changing climate is demanding rapid on-the-ground change to infrastructures and economies. Then we will get to hear from youth leaders from Ghana, Indonesia and more who are working to raise awareness of these issues and helping to rethink how to most effectively respond in their own communities.
You won’t want to miss this dynamic and vital discussion on an often overlooked facet of the climate conversation: register now on the #Youth4ClimateLive website! And if you’re a young person yourself, we encourage you to enter the #SumItUp competition while you still have time.
