In recent years, global youth have demonstrated in spades their enthusiasm for climate action and their skill at rallying others to join them in their pursuit of a greener planet. Recognizing that we all have much to learn from the brave example of these enterprising youth leaders, Connect4Climate is handing its social media channels over to student groups in Rome, Italy tomorrow to kick off an exciting new series of #StudentTakeover sessions.
This brand-new #StudentTakeover initiative is designed to allow youth from all around the world to speak for themselves on the issues most important to them. In the spirit of our dear colleague Max Thabiso Edkins, who was a champion of young climate leaders, this campaign will enable students to bring their own ideas and perspectives to our ongoing coverage of climate change events, giving an invaluable platform to a demographic too often ignored.
Beginning at 10:00 AM Rome time tomorrow, students from Link Campus University and the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II will take the helm on Connect4Climate's Twitter and Instagram feeds, offering real-time takes on a Minambiente-organized climate education event over the course of four hours. Another #StudentTakeover is slated for early June in Singapore, where young people passionate about climate will cover Innovate4Climate festivities.
To follow the youth coverage tomorrow, keep your eyes on our Twitter and Instagram feeds (@Connect4Climate).
