These past months, it’s been exhilarating for all of us at C4C to roll out the first three episodes of #Youth4ClimateLive and see firsthand the passion that the young people appearing on our panels and tuning in from afar bring to the table. One of our chief goals with the series has always been to drive momentum towards the 2021 Pre-COP26 Youth4Climate event while keeping the focus on young people as key players in the climate action agenda.
To this end, we’ve just launched a brand-new competition, #SumItUp, whose winner will get to attend the special Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition event taking place in Milan, Italy ahead of Pre-COP26 in September 2021. Hosted by Italy, this youth event will be the first of its kind, offering attendees an invaluable chance both to share their climate policy perspectives on the world stage and connect with like-minded international youth leaders.
Entering the competition is simple! All you have to do is pick a set of three #Youth4ClimateLive episodes—1/2/3, 4/5/6, or 7/8/9—and #SumItUp in a visually compelling way, highlighting the key takeaways of the episodes in question. Infographics, mind maps, even animations are all welcome (you can find detailed guidance here). Young people between the ages of 15 and 29 are invited to participate, and the competition will unfold in three phases between now and March 2021.
The first phase focuses on episodes 1-3, so you have until September 25th to submit your creative visual sum-up of these first three episodes. One finalist will be selected from each phase: all will have their work showcased at the Pre-COP26 Youth4Climate event, and the grand winner will get the opportunity to attend and present their work personally in Milan.
